TENORM Radiological Control Technician – Part Time/Seasonal
This is a SEASONAL position.
We are excited to announce openings at our Amherst, NY office. These openings are offered on a part time or full-time basis to support client projects of varying duration. The work involves the monitoring of construction activities to determine the presence of Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM) typically in the Western NY area.
Candidates should be reliable, mature, detail-oriented, organized and able to work under time constraints in a busy project-oriented environment. Any math or science background a plus. Excellent communication and grammar skills are a must.
Requirements include:
- Radiological monitoring or environmental experience preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License and dependable Car/Truck
- Ability to observe and concisely document and describe field activities
- Ability to complete forms and generate field sketches
- Ability to perform calculations such as to record and calculate the average of several numbers
- Ability to work outside in cold or hot weather
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and walk on uneven surfaces
- Ability to read and interpret digital and analog displays
- Willingness to work with and around radioactive materials upon completion of training
- Ability to pass physical

Health Physicist/Environmental Radiological Control Supervisor (HP/RCS) – 1 opening
We are excited to announce the following open position with MJW Corporation, Inc. This is an in-office position at our Amherst, NY location.
The HP/RCS will participate in proposal preparation, planning, implementing, and supervising of project field activities. The HP/RCS should have a working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, participate in data assessment activities, including MARSSIM, MARSAME evaluations and project report preparation. Successful candidate must be organized, have excellent writing skills and be fluent in Microsoft Office software. The work will involve the monitoring of construction or characterization of site activities to determine the presence of radioactive material in the environment. Work activities are typically in the Western, NY area but may involve some travel.
Training is encouraged and will be supported by MJW. Candidates will work in a team environment where collaboration is encouraged and will be expected to be reliable, mature, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under time constraints in a busy project-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in health physics, environmental or natural sciences, or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in related environmental, health physics or radiation safety position(s) with a strong technical/educational background in the fields of environmental science, radiological engineering, site remediation or health physics
- Experience applying MARSSIM, MARSAME, and familiarity with NRC, EPA, CERCLA/DOE regulations, and site experience is preferred
- NRC/State radiological licensing and program experience desirable
- Data QA/QC and statistics, including use of VSP or other statistics software is preferred
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and related programs

Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 per year
